About Marga

marga headshot.jpeg

I began my education as a graphic designer and then moved on to study architecture. I worked as an architect in the corporate world for many years before leaving to work as a site-specific sculptor.

Growing up, I was surrounded by mid-century modern design, which continues to inform my aesthetic sensibilities.  I’m wedded to the elements of design: line, shape, form, color, value, texture, and space. I like to take the chaos of a canvas with random marks of color and find order.

I can spend hours lost in the world of a canvas, only to move back and realize I’ve worked on just one square foot area of a larger canvas.  I believe that the same patterns exist in the microscopic world as they do on a human and galactic scales.

I currently live in Santa Fe, NM, where I create abstract art with water color, ink, wood, and metal. Creating art brings me so much joy and I hope that the finished painting or print will do so for you, too.
